Our Settlement Counsellors are here to help you navigate the challenges of settling in Canada. We provide support, resources, and guidance to help newcomers build a successful future in their new home.
How we help
Coming to a new country means coming face-to-face with a number of challenges. Our settlement counsellors are ready to help you find solutions.
We will provide you with information and referrals regarding:
- Housing
- English language assessment
- Employment
- Healthcare
- School registration
- Family support
- Legal support
- Banking
- Community services
- Document preparation
What we do to help you get settled
We are here to help you at every step of your settlement journey. Our assistance varies depending on how and when you arrived in Canada.
For Immigrants and Newcomers
Immigrants or refugees in their first three years following arrival in Canada are encouraged to come to us for help with:
- Needs Assessment
- Referrals to community resources
- Information and orientation sessions
- Information to assist with housing and transportation
- Assistance in accessing education, social and health services
- Case management and para-counselling
- Interpretation and translation
- Family support services
Resettlement Assistance Program
Our staff supports Government-Assisted Refugees in the first 6 - 12 weeks following their arrival in Saskatoon with:
- Airport reception
- Temporary housing
- Document preparation
- Connecting with health services
- Finding permanent housing
- Banking information and services
- Referrals to basic services
Note - Only Government-Assisted Refugees are eligible for the Refugee Assistance Program
